He fights at CW but i agree ZUffa either gets him Benavidez or Zurdo or he needs to move up there is no point im him fighting these guys or at least fight the better part of the already not good CW division.
As per The Rings own rules...
'If a champion doesn't fight a Ring Top 10 ranked opponent for 2 years' .
They will lose the title.
In May, Jai's 2 years are up.
So if the Ring have any sort of credibility he HAS to fight one of the Top 10. I mean the top 5 is:
- Gilberto Ramirez
- Chris Billam-Smith
- Michal Cieslak
- Noel Mikaelian
- Ryan Rozicki
Please do not tell me he's unable to make one of these. They are not difficult fights to make.
CBS, for example, would jump at the chance.
Otherwise he should be stripped of the Ring title too.

the commentators stated next target the winner of Fat Gilbert v Fat Dave
Jai Opetaia's ultimate goal was to become the Undisputed Champion, with him leaving matchroom and Eddie Hearn this now may have become more difficult. But this all depends, because Zuffa Boxing can benefit from having an Undisputed Champion fighting under their roaster, so there is still a chance he can receive this opportunity'.
Note: The Cruiserweight Divisions, really at this current time is below par in my opinion 'and this is part of the reason why Jai Opetaia is not really a star fighter. The last time when the Cruiserweight Divisions was really top level, was during the era of David Haye, Jean Marc Mormeck, Enzo Maccarinelli, Steve USS Cunningham and O'Neil Bell'.
Like a few people have already stated? Opetaia needs to be matched in big fights, and those two fights are ether against David Benavidez or Zurdo Ramirez.
To conclude: If those fights are too difficult to be made, then Opetaia should just move up into the Heavyweight Division. The Heavyweight Divisions is a more exciting and compelling Divisions right about now, and there are big fights to be made even before World level for Opetaia'.
Jai Opetaia has not really been involved in any big themed fights, and this is what he needs to build interest in his career 'The heavyweight divisions in my opinion, would be a much better place for him to create that sort of dynamic in his career' etc.
Hopefully he gets the winner of Benavidez and Zurdo but I'd like to see him in the ring with the likes of Noel Mikaelyan or Umar Salamov. He expressed a lot interest at being undisputed and then curiously signed with Dana who trashes the sanctioning bodies. As much as I disagree with the IBF's decision to strip him I also don't get why he signed with Zuffa besides the money? I'm sure it will raise his stock, profile a little bit but if you're chasing undisputed then I wouldn't sign with Zuffa.

Exactly this is the big test for Ring in terms of credibility.
Not sure why any top 10 guy would risk their ranking with no real belt at stake. Jai isn't the only one trying to get paid, fighting for nothing not even a bump in ranking that would improve their chances a championship fight and a better payday doesn't make sense as a fighter or a promotor.
Jai is pretty much stuck calling out guys like Shannon Briggs used to do, unless they are willing to over pay opponents. Belt holders will focus on unifying to max out the purse and their percentage of future purses.
Long road ahead for Opetaia. Others will make 2x or 3x the money per fight and they may not even be as good as Jai. Plus, once the MMA guys realize that the boxing side of their promotional outfit get better pay, the fun will begin.
