Either way, the sanctioning bodies are long overdue being replaced. Any symbolic value they held ended with the ridiculous interim/secondary era. What we need is a regular schedule and meritocracy. Not endless concessions so that a US or Mexican fighter can call himself 'undisputed' while fighting once a year.
They pay for the spectacles. Seems like we're both rarities in that we pay for fights we want to see and don't pay for ones we don't think are worth it. And we don't steal fights.

I agree with the rest of what you said.

...so actually he won't be recognised as the default best Cruiser either. Just Zuffa champion.
Ring is owned by Turki and Zuffa is also kind of owned by Turki. You really think they strip Opetaia of the only title he has?

So how did Turki award the "Undisputed" belt. They may not have an official title or rankings but they sure as schitt can give a guy a pointless belt.

I don't see how anyone stops them.

jai fought his mandatory 3 months ago. he has more time for voluntaries.

that's not exactly what happened. ibf mandatory was injured and wouldn't be ready to fight before february. jai had zorro in december AND he had no issue with a mandatory fight in february. not one or the other fight but both. ibf wanted him to skip zorro and only fight briedis (one instead of two fights, it's clear who was wrong there). ibf then jumped the gun and stripped him. but then jai - briedis was promptly scheduled for february on usyk - fury which was postponed for may because of fury's cut. ibf looked silly.

Yes. The IBF was discouraging activity and attempting to limit Jai's earning potential. Completely ridiculous.

White pushing this "IBF withdrew due to disrespect" angle. It's classic Trump style messaging - keep shouting the lie you want people to believe.

They withdrew sanction because this fight was against their rules. Plus, by staying they would be giving credibility to Zuffa, an organisation that has not yet earned any credibility while trying to discredit pretty much every boxing organisation.

I guess somebody will have to pay Beterbiev or Bivol a high purse to move up. That is the only way that Opatia fights a living body.
