Comments Thread For: Great expectations: Fights that lived up to the hype

Given the stylistic matchup between aggressive power punchers Eduardo Nunez and Emanuel Navarrete, the hope is that it will be a classic. Could it live up to others that met expectations?

"Ward would get off the canvas in the second round to outbox Kovalev." things that never happened but author of article or AI making things up. maybe you could say he outwrestled him? but he did that because he couldnt outbox him and he still clearly lost but ok

As someone who watched the fight as it happened... You do know how silly what you typed is, right? Kovalev looked great... for a few rounds. Than Ward put him in counter punching mode, which is NOT what the Krusher does well as he is a "offense first, control the rest" kind of fighter. Ward never dominated the fight. But Kovalev never looked comfortable or in control while Ward did.

If you hate Andre Ward, just say so. But that was a near 50/50 fight. Kovalev winning 115-114 on all the scorecards would not have been a robbery. Neither would a SD by the same score in either direction. But the UD by Ward was just as legit as he controlled the pace, distance, and limited the offense of Kovalev after figuring him out. If you want further proof of how Ward had things dialed in, maybe go watch what happened in the rematch?
