Is it to far fetched that Hearn is playing Zuffa with the Benn move? Honestly let's say Benn did came to Hearn and told him about that offer, it would be super smart to instruct Benn to take the offer as 1 fight deal and pick a stepping stone opponent to blast out and look good against while testing if you can get down to 147. This bout is at 150 because Benn does not know if he can make 147, this fight is a test. Zuffa was offering a long term deal but he declined, so maybe that's all one big play fromMatchroom and Benn.
It would be genius if after the fight you will see a video popping up Benn and Hearn sitting together and laughing about Dana and how they played him from the start and that this is chess and not checkers and he just wasted 15 million financing a tune up for Matchroom and Benn and now he is going to fight the meaningful fight for the WBC belt the real belt not the Suffer Title.
If (big IF) thats the case that would be 10-8 round Hearn.

No this thought did cross my mind too because of the fact that it's reported as a one fight deal. A longer term contract would have meant he has definitely jumped ship.
However it's also not far fetched to believe that Benn is just plain ruthless and open to the highest bidder.

The likelihood it's a 1 fight deal with Benn on the undercard against a no hoper is very slim.
Hearn has suggested they may be looking at legal action v Keith Connolly as the offer that was sent to Matchroom to match was $15m for one fight and it's highly unlikely that's what's happened.

I will stick to my original opinion: By about 2030 we will know. Will the Saudi money still be there? Will White sign enough top stars to build what he is hoping? Will there be enough streaming/media outlets to support the promotions? Will Hearn (or someone else) end up the top outlet for boxers? Will the sanctioning bodies still be relevant? (I am cheering against that last one.)
It is too early. No way to tell. I feel since HBO/Showtime left boxing, this sport has been in a state of disarray and constant change. I mean it's Olympic pedigree is looking dim. The sport can only survive by adapting, and it truly hasn't. But there has been enough decline that at some point either one of these investing in it will either hit the jackpot, or this sport may be at K1 level of unimportance and unsalvageable.
