"Attributed his astonishing stamina to an abnormal heartbeat. In fact, he stated that it took him over two hours to warm-up for a fifteen round fight."

were there reports of connections between Armstrong and a strength coach who has been proven guilty of giving athletes hgh and steroids?
Did Armstrong move from 106-147 in his career and seem to gain power as he got stronger?
To clarify, I am not saying Manny does steroids, just that the talk does have a grain of substance.Comment

Andro was over the counter and alot of over the counter stuff contains ingredients that will make a test come up positive.
I am just saying people in the past would just take whatever and not care what was in it so maybe he did have some secret elixer that actually improved his importence instead of poisoning him.
Look up the history of patent medicines.Comment

Gambler, I totally agree with you. And most fighters used stuff back then too - whether it was amphetamines or what. I'm just baffled by what the threadstarter is trying to prove.Andro was over the counter and alot of over the counter stuff contains ingredients that will make a test come up positive.

Manny fans have been very defensive about the PED stuff since Floyd Sr. gave his opinion on the matter. I don't really get it either if they just let it die people would not care but constantly trying to bring it up only makes people think about it more.Comment

Boxers have historically been a very conservative bunch when it comes to training methods. The use of steroids and other illegal substances in boxing is a fairly recent phenomenon in my opinion.
Armstrong attributed his gaining of 10-15 pounds over a couple of years to drinking a lot of beer...Last edited by TheGreatA; 10-21-2009, 04:15 PM.Comment

Unfortunately they will hear about it more. Not necessarily for Manny but the sport as a whole. It's only a matter of time before someone blows the lid on boxing's very serious PED problem.Comment
