I've always said Cotto would be a tough match up for Floyd. Floyd does well when he's controlling the pace and setting that distance with fighters. Hatton was able to push Floyd early in their fight and Floyd in the beginning wasn't getting any real solid shots off until the mid rounds where he found the space and made Ricky pay. Oscar was the same thing. Oscar used his jab early on and didn't let Floyd get set, but once Floyd found the space he just used straight punches to output Oscar.

Cotto IMO has the ring generalship, power, size, and really...underrated boxing skill to give Floyd problems. People think Floyd would have a virtuoso performance, but that may be the toughest fight he's ever been in win or lose.

I got a feeling we'll be seeing them fight next year.

Good Post, I also agree. It's too bad that there is so much politics that might prevent the fight from happening.

Cotto doesnt rush the way Hatton did , Floyd would have no trouble landing , Hatton bull rushed him thats the only reason Floyd took a few rounds to start landing all he had to do was wait for Hatton to blow off a bit of steam , Cotto is entirely different , he is more methodical with a rocking horse motion which is very timeable which Manny will test , Floyd has too much speed and movement for Cotto and will match his strength , I dont think it would be an easy fight but I dont see any problems for Floyd , Floyd has the ability to shut a fighter down as is shown with all that face him as their work rate is halved , its because he counters everything they do and gets them thinking and once that happens game over , Floyd never gets tired either .

I think Cotto/Mosley have the best shots of anyone ever beating Mayweather. Doesn't mean they will though
