Massive own goal by the WBC. To think they were, despite all the crookery, the most prestigious and coveted of the orgs.
They’re also proving that Shakur doesn’t need their belt to succeed, he’s bigger than the belt. And if the belt doesn’t matter to him, it doesn’t matter to the people who want to beat him and take his place.

All those fighting for it care for it. And once they win it, it elevates their status and Value.

The status and value will start to diminish though, I think in the future when we look back, this year will have been a pivotal period. If a fighter elevate their status and value without paying fees to the bloated organisations, they will do. It’s prize fighting after all and the prize is the money. Crawford even said it best, the ring belt is the one everyone really wants (considered to be THE guy) and you pay nothing for that, though it’s likely to change with zuffa…
I wonder why WBC want some part of the cake when their LW title wasn't on the line for the fight ?
From the article:
"Why that fee was necessary was not effectively explained, and on the heels of the bitter fallout between the WBC and Stevenson’s close friend, five-division champion Terence Crawford, it leaves the appearance that this was a punitive action."
