Will a Haney vs Shakur fight ever be made?

Will they be willing to risk their "0" against one another assuming Shakur makes the move to 147? Or do they dance around and avoid each other with empty excuses?

Eventually, although I expect we'll hear Bill Haney claiming he "brings nothing to the table" for a while yet and there will inevitably be some ridiculously protracted negotiation as there always is when two elite Americans need to fight each other.

My concern is they will put this fight on ice for so long that it approaches it's expiration date, similar to Crawford/Spence. Skakur and Keyshawn have already taken a stance against fighting each other, and Haney doesn't appear to be in any hurry to take on any big risks since he was exposed by Ryan.

You don't think the Norman fight was a risk?

Both of these guys have a track record of avoiding dangerous fights. Maybe Haney is more prone to take on bigger names since he fought Loma, Ryan, and Norman Jr. I don't know if Stevenson hasn't fought anyone really dangerous except for Teo because it was his decision or if Bob Arum was trying to build him up slowly and cautiously. I would imagine it was the latter but I hope we can get that fight before the expiration date.

They aren’t in the same weight class so I don’t expect it right away.

Shakur just went up to 140 to beat Teo. He did call out Benn which suggests he will not be at 140 for long.

Haney just won a ww belt.

There are guys at both weights that make for good fights well before these two fight each other down the line.

They are in two different weight classes so they're is no urgency for them to fight. Neither fighter is known for ducking opponents so I don't understand why you're implying they're afraid of risking "0"

At one time you had Shakur, Haney, Garcia, Davis, Loma and Lopez circling around each other. It looked like an era with the top MW in the 80s. Only a couple of those fights materialized and now weight is an issue. Now you have Keyshawn lurking and can't be ignored.

Haney might take the fight since he likes to be the bigger man so much.

It's an easy fight to make happen if Shakur concedes to Haney's ego by choosing legacy over money (less than 50%).

Otherwise, Haney will price himself out.
