Spot on. English history is riddled with colonialism
and the plunder of foreign lands for personal gain. Historically, England is guilty of a level of genocide, atrocity and plunder probably only equalled by Ghengis Khan, who actually seemed to be more philanthropic in many ways. At least he bothered to learn the languages of those he conquered. To add insult to injury the version of history taught in school here casts us as benevolent overlords bringing democracy and civilisation to primitive and ignorant savages who would've eaten each other if we hadn't intervened. I'm under no illusions on that score.
