You can't come up with excuses for folks that are just mentally immature or broken. Perhaps we're overlooking just how bad a childhood Davis had and that it carried up with him through adulthood, though that's still no excuse. Folks mature at some point. If you're still the old you, that's on you for not learning and growing in life. If you keep blaming other people for your problems that you have the power to change, that's on you.
