The division was "once-settled" because Canelo decided in 2022 to avoid the clear cut Nr.1 in the division besides him. He not only ducked the only deserving guy to fight for a belt, no he was doing all this while holding all 4 belts hostage and claiming he is Undisputed Champion.

Canelo in my eyes was not the Undisputed Champion by the pure definition of what undisputed means. He was practically the Undisputed Champion but in reality there was a guy who many many people had been convinced would beat him and that for even way longer than 3 years.

Canelo did great things and once i was someone that had him highly ranked in the p4p rankings but for me he absolutely tarnished his reputation by holding all 4 belts and avoiding Benavidez and not only avoiding him but choosing completely undeserving opponents over him for 3 years straight until a 147 fighter schooled him. If you decide to do such thing please just give up the belts and don't claim to be the top dog of the division.

The division was never settled, it was never a clear champ there. If Canelo would have been forced to fight Benavidez like he should have been we would have had a clear Nr. 1 and Canelo would have been retired by now.

For me this was the worst duck in modern day boxing he went from i don't fight mexicans to this guy is too disrespectful to i want 200 million to i will never fight him he is too big.

I've never understood the concept of "elevating" dudes to champion.

Why not make them earn it in the ring?

If the champ retires or is unavailable, have the 1 & 2 guy in your rankings fight for it.

This is true, no one should be “elevated” to world champion, they should have to fight someone for it.

Yeah... all this is academic. Everyone in this division and all the casuals want to know what Alvarez is doing. He will get the fights- title shots he wants when he wants. Everything else in this division is just for those of us in the boxing community who are actually interested in some of these younger names.

Alvarez is closer to the end of his career than the prime. This division - and 160- honestly needs some of these "no-names" to become a fun, bankable star.
