The Gypsy King. As far as the drug use we can only take what is factual, and that is he tested positive for the Hammer fight only. He passed every test for Wlad. I agree the Fury vs Wlad is the hardest version to beat and he had to adapt his style far earlier than he should have been due to his lifestyle. His stamina, agility, speed, all started massively declining way earlier than it should, but he adapted to a slugger/boxer well considering he is not a massive puncher.
I think he deserves credit for his tactical brain that worked out how to fight Wilder 2, who at the time, was a very dangerous man. I'd say the second Usyk fight was very scrappy and a hard watch, but the first, his performance is underrated by some. The first 3 Rounds could all be scored either way, but Fury absolutely dominated Rounds 4/5/6/7, but from early Round 8 I noticed he was slowing down, as I said, his stamina is not what it was, and that's the Round the fight changed, not Round 9 when he got the standing count, Round 8 with that shot to the nose. Usyk took R8, 9 (10-8) and 10, but Fury came fighting back and R11 and R12 were swing rounds. Usyk would not have complained that night had Fury won a close decision.
Usyk wasn't really at it for first 7 Rounds and I had Fury massively up, as did many others when reading through the live comments, then after the event people wanted to rewrite history and give Usyk every swing round. That fight could have been scored either way. I'd pick Fury from the Wlad fight to beat Usyk handily on points.
I loved Fury's humour from the 2 Fast era, up to and including the Wlad fight (Gypsy King era). "This Klit is about to get licked", the whole Batman and Robin thing, his early career obsession with David Price, it was all funny stuff. Then initially on his comeback and redemption arc also, he was loved more than ever, then, from Wilder 2, Dosser Fury was born, and whilst it worked for that one fight, he turned into a humourless, broken record. Other great Fury moments include the press conferences for the fight that ever happend with David Haye. Most Boxers are boring, so it was refreshing to have someone like Fury, as it was for having Prince Naseem Hamed back in the day, or Chris Eubank Sr, or Ricky Hatton (RIP). Ali back in his day.
Mayweather built himself into a villain brilliantly, but his actual verbal content, it didn't have the wit of the aforementioned. Hatton took him to school pre fight, for example, though Mayweather did the same in the ring. Mike Tyson, is another who I'd say has a limited personality, but the hype that surrounded him, his aura and style, and brilliant matchmaking had everyone thinking we were watching the best thing since prime Rocky Balboa, "Yo, Adrian."
