JP has more pro boxing experience than Ngannou.
No, he beat past prime stars who laid down for him, he has gotten nowhere near fighting an even fight with someone like Fury at HW. No, he doesn't most of his fights are pre-determined showcases.

If you're a boxing fan then I can't understand why you'd give a **** about this fight, from a boxing perspective.

As a freak show, fair enough. I'm not rooting for anyone. Just hoping the spectacle isn't a huge embarrassment to the sport or worse.

You say nowhere near fighting anyone, yet he is 2 days from fighting AJ at HW with 10oz gloves (*maybe LOL).

I'm not saying i think he can really win, but he should be able to stick around for a couple rounds and take some chances before things unravel. His movement is decent enough. Former wrestler, he knows how to clinch and has a strong base if hurt/tired.

He's basically just a popular club level fighter right now - there isn't anything really unusual about a matchup like this. AJ is 36, and was just brutally KO'ed - also suffered multiple injuries against DDD (ankle and elbow). The elbow required surgery. He rolled his ankle in the process of the first knockdown and had to continue fighting on it while hurt for multiple rounds; he gave a lot in that fight.

If it was any other opponent, there would be a lot more posts about how shot AJ is. Not that I agree with that, but a lot of people think he is.

Does everything you know about Anderson Silva as a competitor, champion, and man tell you he is someone who was coming to lay down? You think Nate Diaz likes getting trolled about losing to JP of all people? Everyone's got a price but I look at the efforts those guys gave - they were spirited.

Maybe moreso than a typical fatty who will flop out and quit against a prospect on Telefutura or some low level card. Yeah, the matchmaking approach is softer on true boxing skills - but those guys are former champions in their own right, I argue that the mentalities of those guys were not a losing one as compared to some of the guys a boxing prospect might face at their starts. Additionally, those were all main events on big stages and those guys were used to that kind of pressure and attention as opposed to the fatty on Telefutura.

it's an interesting approach for a late starter- there is now a base level of experience and they tried to step it up - the Chavez Jr fight got pretty rough for him, if Jr had started earlier, maybe he gets a knockdown or stoppage, but don't miss that JP was also coming down from HW. Admittedly, he hasn't really gotten that much better over the last couple fights, this might be where he settles who knows, it is the point where he might test himself. This is a pretty crazy step, but AJ also needs the fight to be "safe" or at least that is what they perceive. If he goes some rounds, the resume will be temporarily better than Ituama.

He weighed 220 for Tyson which is about what Usyk weighed for AJ.

So yeah, it's hard to believe - but from all accounts, trainers, sparring partners, opponents, etc, all say he puts in the work. That's all I need to really know - if it was any fighter.
