Well aside from everything said already, from David Diaz onwards didn't he hire that conditioning trainer, Ariza, and concentrate solely on explosiveness? So they were working on making his power better with specific exercises and practices to develop that.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's correct Syf. They have been working on explosiveness, plyometrics, ballistic training, etc. for a while now.

He also had Hatton very softened up in the first round and vulnerable for a big punch. Manny's speed is what will be his meal ticket at the higher weight classes. He still has good pop though.

Carrying up the speed though is impressive on it's own though. I cannot think of any fighters who maintained speed like that while jumping multiple weight classes.

most guys add more weight/muscle when they move up. pac never did.

he just cuts less which helps his speed even more.

his last 4 fights he weighed almost the same fight night in each fight 145 or so. even though his last 4 fights have been at 130 , 135 , 147 and 140.

Definitely agree -- Floyd and MP both fight close to their natural weight these days. I think it helps a great deal. They spend less time working their balls off to make weight and more time fine-tuning their game plans and sparring. Less strain on the body, etc. Seems to be good for those guys. If I was a boxer I'd take a leaf out of their book.

I AM NOT A MANNY HATER! I like him as a fighter, BUT why couldnt he KO small guys like Barrera or Marquez? With the kind of power he has been showing, I would expect him to KO either Barrera or Marquez in the first round! He landed all night on Morales, Barrera and Marquez, but did not have the power that he now shows! I hope he is clean, because he is an ATG..period.

Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez are BETTER and are more ACCOMPLISHED fighters than RICKY HATTON. Simple.
