Surely that fight will happen eventually.

Wilder has lost 4 of his last 6 fights and definitely does not deserve a Championship fight. However, Usyk is the KING so he has a right to choose his next opponent.

Usyk SHOULD fight Wardley or Parker.
They will get their shot eventually. Wilder talked such a big game and the establishment media sold him as the (counterfeit) biggest puncher ever (not even close, he's all myth) Wilder earned this shot on hype alone. Like Jeffries vs Johnson, Duran vs Joppy, Ali vs Holmes.

Vs Parker he looked lifeless as if he just didn't want to be in there. There was zero of the Wilder we knew facing Parker, already looking like a shop worn, waaaay past his best fighter. Yet he had just KO'd Helenius in 1 prior... Then vs Zhang, it was his Parker performance all over again, except against a big aggressive puncher in Zhang. No way was Wilder going to hide from Zhang for all rds before something eventually got him.

Wilder's last fight, looked terrible again in getting a win that wasn't impressive. Now on to Usyk? The writing is all over the wall why Usyk wants Wilder now, but I don't blame him. An easy win vs a former dominant American heavyweight and probably the last "good" one we've had in awhile. It also means Usyk faced the 3 best that were meant to face each other and got Ws on all of them. Just another way to kind of **** on this heavyweight generation further and look like a stud while he's at it.

The shock would be there for sure if Wilder did somehow land a miracle punch on Usyk, but I just don't see it now. Usyk is too smart for anything Wilder has and all Wilder really has is a big right hand. I'd argue that AJ's pop in the right is very similar and he took some decent ones from AJ and stayed up. I got Usyk easily winning a UD or even stopping Wilder.
Helenius dove. Usyk has had a lot of tough fights lately Fury 2, AJ 2, Dubois 2, he's long overdue for a patsy like Wilder. Look at all the patsies Ali fed on.

As unlikely as it would be, I could imagine Wilder from 8 years ago clipping Usyk. I'd bet against it, but it wouldn't be a massive shock to me either.

But now? I just can't see it. Not the Wilder we saw against Parker and Zhang.
He might have longer odds than Jake Paul or maybe about the same as he can't punch anymore and never could box at world level so what is he then?

Wilder is the equivalent of an old nag being sold to the glue factory...

Deontay-Usyk is the type of match that should be a last fight before retiring think Berto-Floyd
It feels worse than Berto/Mayweather due to the fact that I have much higher expectations for Usyk. I wouldn't pick Wilder vs. Kabayel/Wardley or even 20 year old Itauma.

              why higher expectations for Usyk?

Floyd was the vastly superior boxer, top 10 all time, and has a strong case for being the most skilled boxer in history

Biblical Moses would mop Deontay. I don’t want to see him get hurt he gave us good matches

I don't think he's retiring after this fight. IMO he has about 2-3 more good fights in him. Remember that heavyweights battery last longer than the smaller guys.

Neither are prime and DW's right hand isn't what it used to be.

Would be a huge upset if DW wins
It would be a punch from the Gods with this version of Wilder, but Ruiz landed one vs Joshua, Foreman vs Moorer, and Froch vs Groves 2. God won all of those fights, so it depends if God is rooting for the Great Wilder or not, but great to see Usyk taking on what is still a tremendous challenge after he ducked Chisora 2, and Fury 3 and 4. I can't agree that he dove. The dude ate a stiff right to the face using his own momentum to walk into it. His eyes were literally staring up at the ceiling for 30 seconds.
