Take Alibata's post as an example. The years long time span it takes for champions to come out of Phillipines is way too long compared to other countries. They aren't exactly known to have great fighters per decade, but a special one comes along every now and then like Manny Pacquiao right now.

PacMan is the best Filipino athlete all time in my opinion eventhough Paeng Nepomuceno had done more. Bowling is not really as popular as boxing. the competition is not nearly as competitive as boxing.
