Crawford goes off on WBC. RING BELT IS THE ONLY BELT!

300k is outrageous but he fought for the undisputed 168, which means all the belts. If the WBC didn't contract anything it is on them. Crawford should honor it somehow but part of him making so much was because who he was fighting and what was at stake.Comment

Forgot about him suing Arum
He was the one that kept renewing with Arum. You know what you are getting when you sign with him and you know you will be limited to his pool of fighters. It's not like his reputation hasn't been around for decades. If you renewed with him to make a few million fighting indongo then that's on you don't be mad after the fact. Anyone could have told you he would have to leave arum to get PBC fights with Porter and Spence. If he didn't put Pac in his contract renewal then that is going to be left to arum if it happens. I believe arum when he said he lost money on most Crawford fights back then. He had no charisma and didn't generate a lot of buys. A few million to fight a postol was a good deal for him. It wasn't until Spence that Crawford became pretty mainstream and his two biggest fights the name recognition with casuals was with his opponent
Sounds like he agreed to a lower payment with WBC and wants to be mad after the fact as well which is a theme with him and a character flawLast edited by elfag; 12-04-2025, 11:58 AM.👍 1Comment

300k.was low
Their normal fee of 3 percent would be 1.5 million
I think there needs to be an upper limit on their fees. The purse percentage structure makes them have a massive conflict of interest and want to keep the belts in the hands of cash cows like canelo so you see them break their own rules all the time

wbc's upper limit is 300 000. they already thought about all this you guys discussed and they felt 300 000 is not excessive and ok. some sanctioning bodies take 2% instead of 3 in unification fights.

Boxing needs to get away from the system of four competing sets of rankings and the corrupt sanctioning bodies who run them. Even when someone does attain so-called "undisputed" status it never lasts long because fighters don't fight frequently enough. They either end up getting stripped by the IBF or the other three start naming secondary belt holders which makes the whole process a farce.
Fighters shouldn't be paying money to these unaccountable organisations.👍 1Comment

Like promoters, sanctioning bodies are all corrupt and adjust the rules if there is a high earning potential.

In other super fights they have adjusted their rates and it was not 3%, it is a practice they have been doing for a while. Imagine having to pay 3% to each sanctioning body? It is not like it is an investment for Crawford at this point of his career but if he seeks another undisputed at a different weight class he might run into problems.Comment

Jclazyx210that time Floyd didn’t fight for Shane’s wba title because he considered it a lower tier sanctioning body
who you beat, how you beat, and when you beat eclipses titles and labels
unified by having wins over two REAL iggas trumps undisputed by beating 4 good but not great oppsComment

the fighters themselves are in part to blame

every young fighter dream become champ
Winning fighters accept these belts which gives them legitimacy
belts are like pretty women. They all cant be the best but it takes Alpha Max like Floyd TBud to turn down beltsComment
