My God, man, it would be nice if you ACTUALLY READ the article before making such ridiculous statements! No one is advocating for fighters to stop sparring, but for it to be done responsibly! The whole point of the article is that 80-100% of fighter injuries take place DURING SPARRING!
Drive by comments like yours are really toxic and add no value. PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMENTING.
Well, considering you usually spar 100 rounds or more before a fight, it's quite obvious, and mathematical, that 80 % of injuries would occur then. As for sparring responsibly, it is possible, but in effect, more difficult than it seems. I know it's hard to understand for someone who has never sparred in his life, like yourself ... So please, walk into a boxing gym, train and spar before commenting. Comments like yours are simply irrelevant and add no value.

What is responsible, about getting inside the ring with a mid to late 1980's Iron Mike Tyson 'who in training, has the ambition of beating up and knocking out his sparring partners?'.
I don't think certain folk within the boxing community, are fully comprehending what boxing is as a sport 'In a ideal world, in a civilised world. There is very little responsible about boxing. It is extremely violent sport, where legally sentient beings can be removed from this planet as a consequence and jeopardy of the sport. This is what everyone in 2025 going into 2026 needs to understand and accept'.
You need to expand on what you mean, by responsible? So do you think modern day boxers, should play around doing this tech sparring or whatever they call it? Play tick? Or should they train with a intensity similar to fight night?
In my opinion playing tick in training, is not responsible for a serious fighter. It may reduce injuries, and be less dangerous for the fighters in training camp 'but on fight night, all of those dangers are just going to increase by 1000%. And if you are not fortified or ready experience such violence, the likely-hood of a fighter being smashed up is increased dramatically'.
Note: From my perspective, being responsible in training means 'doing it less. Estimate when a fighter really needs to be sparring with a high intensity. And most likely in my opinion? That would be in training camp'.
But guess what? The dangers of the violent combat are still going to be there 'because that is boxing, that is the nature of the game. And if certain modern day fighters or fans, can't stand the heat get out of the game. Very simply and straight forward'.
So what does responsible mean to you? Do you want fighters to play tick in sparring? Or do you want head guards with some type of technology to be created that completely eliminate the dangers of punches? That sounds great, if the goal is to completely destroy the nature of the sport'.
Because once that happens, boxing is just a virtual reality computer game 'that does not count. And let's all be honest? We watch boxing, and admire the fighters because we know what we are watching is real. And there are real dangers and consequences in the game. That is why the fighters are described as Gladiators and Warriors'.
People reading on this thread, may think what I am saying his harsh 'but the reason why boxers are such esteemed athletes. Because week in and week out, they live in an environment which most people try their best to avoid. Their life is War, Violence and high jeopardy'.
To conclude: As Rocky Balboa stated 'Boxing is a metaphor to life'. So we can do all we can try to, shield ourselves from the reality of living on such a planet. But there are times when that reality is going to surface. And you best make sure you are ready to endure and fight. In the many different ways people and all sentient beings on this planet fight to live. Everyone is fighting something in their lives, and it is that resistance which lets you know? That you are still in the game. To live is to fight'.
I am going to state this hypothetical scenario again? It is the mid to late 1980's 'a fighter is standing across the ring from Iron Mike Tyson in training camp for an up and coming fight. Mike Tyson is not there to play tick, he is there simulate an extreme level of competitive violence. Because that is boxing'.
So overall? Is Sparring dangerous? Yes. Do fighters get injured in Sparring sometimes? Yes. But guys? That is the nature of the game. If you can't stand the heat? Get out of the game' etc.
