Since same day makes boxing saferto be fair > yes he bends his own rules, abuses his own ranking system but the WBC has started a few initiatives to improve boxing - and those few things are mora than the wba and wbo have ever done and the ibf has only ever introduced 2nd weigh-in 10lb limitAgreed - it would once again become a contest of who is the best fighter at that weight and not, as it sometimes is now (looking at you Haney) a contest of who is best able to lose weight/rehydrate - which is 80% genetics and 20% training team knowledge
We need to return to odd rounds someone has to win no draw cards. Main event and co-main 13 rounds each. Have the undercards be 9 max.
Zurdo lol Fat Gilbert added 30 overnight vs Top Soviet BivolTop ten recent de-hydration exploits
Crawford at 135
Haney at 135
Broner at 135
Zurdo at 168
Ortiz at 147
Navarette at 122
Ennis at 147
Ryan Garcia at 135
Mikaela Mayer at 130
and likely Rafael Espinosa at 126 - how a 6ft1in guy cn make 126 is beyond me - I'm 6ft and never weighed close to 147 even when 20 yrs old
fighters who would have a harder life with same day
Buff Guy Jai has weighed beyond 200 before
Buff Guy Yarde has weighed beyond 175 before
Fat Gilbert already flabby at cruiser
Fat Dave already flabby at 175
Brian looks pretty buff at 147 idk how much he's cuttingComment

Let's see where this goes before absolving Suleiman's past sins.

I agree 100 percent. make ie 101 percentis the whole point not to get them into the ring together at the SAME weight, as in no dehydration game whatsoever
so if that is the case why not weigh them like they do horse jockeys right before they get into the ring, hbo style, u have to be right on your weight class, if u are not the fight can still go ahead, for example u come in at 136 for a 135 fight but u pay a hefty fine to your opponent, a % of the purse or each pound u are over
it will make no difference to the fight even if a guy is 1 or 2 pounds bigger in the ring as the system TODAY results often in 10 pound plus differences in the ring so it will be a huge improvement there as well👍 1Comment

They should definitely go back to same-day weight ins, but Suliamian wont have anything to do with it. At least in the US. It will be up to each individual State Boxing Commission as to which day they do weigh ins.....Comment

I doubt we will ever see it again unfortunately. Same day weigh ins never should have been taken away. All it's done is allow guys who have good genetics to come in the next day 10-15 pounds heavier and beat up on smaller guys. I do believe it is true that the fighters feel better. It isn't quite true that you can't rehydrate well and fill up your muscles with glycogen in 24 hours. You can do alot in 24 hours.
I honestly believe that it's alot easier for the A side, which is usually the guy who comes in 12-15 pounds rehydrated looking like a monster, to cheat.....and thus there is no real incentive for any org to change it.Last edited by Theshotyoudontsee; 12-03-2025, 12:53 AM.Comment

That's good. Especially now cause I've noticed recently when they show the tale of the tape they dont show the fight night weight.Comment

The only fair and safe way to do it IMO is how ONE championship do it. Measure the hydration levels of the fighter at various points. So you have to make weight and also safely/fairly. Only problem is loads of fights would be cancelled until fighters and their teams can get their head around how to do it properly.
That way no one is weight bullying and you’re well hydrated enough for there to be protection around your brain (the most important element).Comment
