I'm just skeptical that Jai really wants the fight. His opponent selection has been universally terrible outside of the two Briedis fights. I can understand not being able to land Badou Jack or Gilberto Ramirez but that's no excuse for fighting Claudio Squeo.

The TS is upset that Benavidez is going to fight a top tier champion, 2nd best in the division, who happens to be Mexican, on Mexican Independence Day rather than the higher ranked champion who he can and likely will fight after that should he win.

This has got to be one of the dumbest complaints ever made on NSB which is saying a lot.

We get a great fight on paper that is meaningful in both the division, a country, and the sport. It most likely sets up unifying the division later in the year.
