    Bomac is a bum trainer

    He really is.

Cawford makes him, not the other way around

    Much like Hunter

Ward was great but everyone else got worse under Hunter

Although I don't really know how good BoMac is as not that many known fighters have worked with him yet.

Hunter on the other hand improved nobody. Ward would've thrived under anyone.

i agree with the last sentence. the referees allowing ward to headbutt, elbow, and d ick punch his way to victory in his hometown had nothing to do with hunter.

I don't think Bomac gave 2 shits about Jr.

He couldn't make time for the first fight and probably only took this for the money. Probably completely surprised at the magnitude of the fight.
Didn't even turn up for the post fight conference, not cool.

Just looking at the man, you can tell he's lazy and don't give a f.

However, still amazing what he's done with Terrence.

Ward would’ve thrived under anyone he had linked up with since childhood maybe and “some” of them.

I listened to his book and Vergil was adamant about making him defensively sound…and was there since before he was a teen, so Ward would’ve definitely absorbed anything Vergil. I don’t know if he would’ve been AS successful if he had hired a more offensive oriented trainer , though.

Having said that, sometimes it’s the trainer that makes the fighter, but when they transcend belts and the politics at that point it’s more on the fighter making the trainer shine.

Trainers like Enzo Calzaghe, Papa Trinidad, Roger Mayweather were teachers to many fighters, but they’re most likely known for ONE fighter…while having VERY limited success with others.

The waters get murky at that point. That’s why I look at awards like “trainer of the year” and look at with a little trepidation…because it’s entirely dependent on a fighter itself so it all feels like it goes hand in hand.

Naazim Richardson almost won trainer of the year if I’m not mistaken not necessarily because he was training many fighters or taking a lot of them from zero to moderately decent. No, it probably hinged on two sole wins (even though they were technically in different years…they were within MONTHS of each other). October 2008 saw his fighter Hopkins take Pavlik’s “0” and three months later Shane Mosley turned in a remarkable upset over Antonio Margarito.

A couple years ago people were hyping up Bomac because of Crawford’s beatdown of Spence and then Bomac helped Eubank reverse a disastrous TKO loss to Liam Smith with a quick KO in the rematch.

Now that Eubank has lost, the thread starter thinks Bomac is ****. I don’t think it’s that cut and dry. That loss had more to do with Eubank growing out of the weight and Benn growing into it. It happens.

Ward was not great wtf beating a bunch of euro bums and getting a gift against your first real opponent isn't great.
