Why Vitali vs. D. Williams?

I was reviewing the WBC rankings, and I was shocked. There are 5 heavyweights ranked above him, and all five fighters would be much more competitive. This fight is going to be a replay of the Kirk Johnson fight, unless you are a big Cotto or Vitali fan, save your money.

The only other fighter who is available and who is ranked above Williams is Barrett, and I have no idea what happened there.

jirov is a cruiserweight who just lost to mesi, as did barrett.... fres was just KO'd by ruiz... whitaker has beaten NOBODY.... williams fresh off the tyson KO, is hotter then all of them right now... he's the most sellable opponent and IMO more dangerous than any of the others mentioned...

Whitaker has beaten Maskaev and Barrett, both of whom are ranked higher than Danny Williams by the WBC.

THe fight doesn't bother me as much as the fact that they are making it a PPV...THAT is ridiculous.

Vitaly is all about money now. He made a fight that will make him a couple of bucks. DW is a good fighter for a first defense. Also casual fan knows about DW and his victory over Tyson. Give Vitaly a break he worked hard for his belt let him make some money now

I agree, I was simply stating that he has beaten people in the past. And while he hasn't beaten anyone that is anything since he lost to McCline, but he did have a draw with Ray Austin for whatever that's worth.

BTW guys you heard that because of the civil war in Ukraine VK might have to cancel this fight and return to his country. Just heard from couple of my russian friends.
