But let's be real. The reason rehydration clauses happen is in the hope the opponents looks spent like Eubank did.

They got exactly what they wanted
Absolutely correct. That's exactly what they were hoping for.

But I'd still expect more from Eubank. He wasn't there from the first bell. You sign the contract, you fight. If you can't fight under those terms, then don't sign the contract.

Maybe he needed more protection from manager and promoter. They would have been desperate for the fight - Eubank probably didn't need it quite so much. Especially not on those terms.

It's the exact same rehydration restriction the IBF has for their title fights (except at heavyweight and in unifications).

can you imagine people like haney trying to reach it, he was clocked at 160 in the ring from a 135 weigh in

I don't know if there's a perfect solution. I favour a return to the original eight divisions personally so there would be weight discrepancies there.

And fighters wouldn't come down to this weight if they couldn't be optimal. Eubank did come down because the money was there for it.

Ultimately it's two guys fighting in there. If Eubank won people would look at the size difference. When Benn won you might look at how drained Eubank was.

Fact is they shouldn't really be fighting. The reason they did is money, not sport.
