Everyone knows that Robert Garcia is petrified of the Boots fight. So is Fishnets. Boots jumped into the ring Saturday night. Why didn't Vergil do the same after Boots' last win? That says it all.

But as you astutely stated, Ortiz would rather face a shot and ruined old man than face the best fighter of his division.

But but but he’ll tell you Boots ducked Ortiz two years ago at 147 while Ortiz was at 154 so he doesn’t “deserve” the fight. Wait for it. lol
Yes I know. He capes very hard for Vergil Ortiz but this fight is both sad and pathetic. Errol Spence time is up. He needs to retire.

Not only is he 35 years old. In addition, he would have been out of the ring for approximately three years by the time this fight takes place sometime in 2026.

Moreover, Spence should never be allowed to compete inside of another prizefighting ring again. The man is partially blind for goodness sake.

That car accident took a lot more out of him than we had originally thought. Also, I believe it was the reason why he lost to Crawford in the manner which he did.

The man simply cannot see. He has a detached retina in his left eye and can no longer see the punches coming anymore.

That detached retina has now left his vision permanently compromised. He will never regain full acuity in that eye again.

Which is the reason why he currently wears prescription glasses.

it sounds to me like ortiz is not going to fight boots now after all his talk about wanting the best what it sounds like is he wants the best cash for the least effort at the moment instead, so he will have to live with the flack he is going to get if he avoids boots, it will go down as a duck on his record, ortiz & his team seem to think they have put in the yards to get where they are and yes they have fought better guys no doubt so i can agree with him a bit on that one but both of them are interim belt holders who have left fights on the table, harder fights on paper of course so maybe thats just how they operate idk

looks like this silly marination dance will continue & i wouldnt be surprised if the matchup in the end becomes a dead duckling like so many of them as 1 or both could lose or lose form and people will just lose interest

turki doesnt seem interested at the moment now so i doubt the cash is even there to meet these guys contract demands when they do start all that, boots has said he wants the fight but what are his pay demands?

I hear you. But Spence is the “dream” fight for Ortiz. How can a guy in his absolute prime say shït like that? Ortiz’s dream is to beat a ghost of man, a shadow of what he was, a broken past his prime Spence who is technically retired.
That would be like Boots’ claiming his “dream” fight is Floyd or even Cotto. Asinine.

The only Ortiz fan that is calling it out as it is is Smash

The rest have their built in excuses and justifications already

Boots is not really in a position to make demands. If Turki was to offer both of them $4 million each, I’d say it would be their biggest purse ever.

Forget Turki for a second, this is a fight that can potentially do 500k on PPV (@ $49). They can both make over $5 million each.

If Ortiz was fighting a beholder to have leverage and a stake in history, that would make sense, but to say “my dream fight” is Spence, that’s just a good old QUACK DUCK!!

That’s a fair takeaway. I say let’s give Ortiz some grace and see if his team will push for a fight with Boots.

You are right. This might sound harsh but boxing has become tribal.

Since the Canelo/Crawford fight. Most Larazan and Chicano fans alike don’t want to see anymore of their heroes lose.

Especially to another black American fighter at the peak of their game. They know that Ortiz doesn’t stand a chance of winning against Ennis.

They not only fear that he would lose. They know that he would lose; Most likely by way of knockout.

Lastly. It’s interesting you’ve mentioned Smash. He is a good poster by the way and may I say one of the most reasonable and level-headed posters on this forum.

In any case, he understands this reality more than anyone. I said that Canelo should rematch Crawford. However, he said no.

He believes that Crawford should just leave Canelo alone and fight Jaron “Boots” Ennis instead. He is a realist. He knows that Ginger cannot defeat Crawford.

In any case, I like him. He’s a cool dude.
