Stop hyping these guys at 154 its a wasteland

The fans, the media and lets just say friends of Lubin was trying to build this into some sort of 50/50. Like we didn't see Charlo blast him, Fundora rearrange his face, he just got a gift over a very poor mans Ortiz. It was basically the easiest fight of Vergils career lol

There is this horrible misconception that 154 is good, it isn't.

I don't want to be like I told you so but its blowing my mind fans can't see it and think Lubin is a top fighter and like Bakhram and Fundora aren't just products of a truly dead division.

I love Ortiz and Boots but as fans forget titles and these guys at 154 you should accept no less than these two fighting each other next.

Boots vs Ortiz and have Bakhram and Fundora fight or Xayas vs Baraou in a battle for the worst undisputed ever.

The only meaningful fight at 154 is Boots & Ortiz then the winner should in truth try meet Crawford at 160 in a mega fight.

If it’s such a wasteland it makes it even more embarrassing that Boots didn’t fight anyone remotely near the top 10 in his last fight.

Ortiz has beat three top 10 guys now, two of which were ranked top 5 too, I think he deserves a little credit.

Truly an awful fight especially coming off a good win over Stanionis. I hope its just a tune up. Even as a tune up it ****** and was a waste of time

Ortiz deserves a lot of respect, he's a bad man.
He's clearly one of if not the best at not one but two weights yet never even fought for a world title. I don't think the belts mean a lot anymore but it should really make fans question the validity of them.

My current issue with 154lb is the shoehorning of fighters like Thurman and Spence into the conversation. Fundora vs. Ortiz should've happened already. Fundora vs. Murtazaliev too, but Sampson is moving Fundora very carefully. I have zero issue with Zayas vs. Baraou. They both fought to get in their current position, and it's a logical next step for both. It's a match-up for the "sport" and not the "business". Anything involving Thurman/Spence is for the "business".

They sold the fight as every fighter ducking Ortiz and the brave Lubin who really has no were to go stepped in to fight. There are a few names and interesting matches and is not that much of a wasteland

It's an excellent division with lots of good matchups to make. The only thing you're telling anyone with these threads is that you're a fanboy of a particular fighter.

I think Zayas vs Baraou is a good fight, an even match up and I am glad they are looking to unify I just think its such a poor quality fight for a unification. That's my only gripe with it.

I have no issue with the fight itself. Would I be excited to see either vs Boots or Ortiz? No.

I just see Ortiz & Boots as elite, the rest maybe bordering world level at best.

I love both Boots & Ortiz, I'm a fan of Baraou also.
I just don't want to see mismatches being billed as meaningful fights and challenging when they're not.

They're not quite Canelo vs Rocky Fielding or Berlanga but they aren't far off.

I have no interest in elite fighters (Boots and Ortiz) fighting what are in truth high end Euro level/fringe top 10 who have no power or anything to trouble them.

Basically what you have is Top Prank matchmaking and fans are just now so accustomed to being served up **** that they don't just accept it, they run with it.

There are a million titles out there, the divisions are for most part so dead that one solid win you can be top 10 maybe bordering 5 and we're using this to justify fights rather than using our eyes and common sense and seeing the fights for what they truly are.
