Comments Thread For: Mario Barrios-Ryan Garcia talks mark latest entry in PBC?s welterweight saga

With a fight between Rolando Romero and Manny Pacquiao unlikely, PBC may instead work with Golden Boy Promotions on a show headlined by Mario Barrios vs. Ryan Garcia.

This is the lowest the welterweight division has been in my lifetime.

I feel like even a guy like Berto or Ghost Guerrero in their prime would clean up the whole lot of Ryan, Rolly, Crocker, Donovan, Barrios, Haney, and Norman.

Hopefully the Norman-Haney winner steps up and takes the division over because this is sad.

If Ghost cleaning house at 147 then welter is in bad bad shape. Lol

The Ghost from the Floyd fight clears everybody in the division today.

It's even worse than just the Rolly loss if you look at the whole context.

He's 1-2-0-1 in his last 4 fights with a KO loss at lightweight, a no contest due to a failed PED test (also badly missed weight), a win against an unranked fighter at 140, and a loss to a debuting welterweight in his own welterweight debut.

Mannn if Garcia fails to beat Barrios, gate keeper status. Garcia should be able to beat guys like him.

Truer words have never been spoken. This feels unreal. I have never seen the WW division this barren and devoid of potential HoF guys.
I believe a 48 year old can beat them all except for Norman perhaps.

To be fair to Norman, I think he beats them all and unifies the division. I was surprised Haney pursued a fight with him but props to him.

In boxing, some are consistently allowed to fail upwards.
