Comments Thread For: Mystery men: Nine quality heavyweights whose names you might not know

Although not household names, Lenier Pero, Agit Kabayel, and Labinot Xhoxhaj could very well be the best undiscovered and unknown heavyweights in boxing today, writes Lucas Ketelle.

No one has heard of Agit Kabayel or Frank Sanchez? Give over. There were some names that were a mystery to me but that's because a lot of fighters won't take each other on anymore. Sheesh, I can remember when a few heavyweights fought nearly every month until they hit pay dirt.

Keep an eye out for Juan Albert's the South African is slowly progressing and is unknown talent ,his having his 6th fight next month in 2025 , Rodney Berman is keeping him busy. I don't know any other heavyweight this busy this year. His ranked 136 currently on boxrec.

Agit Kabayel has a better recent run than Parker (prior to Saturday obviously) - imo HEis the no 2 HW in the world on form.

Frank Sanchez says he lost to Kabayel because of some impediment - but he is quality.

Not sure who this article is for but its not for the average boxing scene reader if you are including those two. What next? Subriel Mattias will feature on a list of up and coming LWWs?

I was a Frank Sanchez believer, but no more. It's not the fact that he lost to Kabayel, but how he lost. He showed two critical failings of prospective future champions. A lack of discipline (showed up looking like a stuffed sausage) and demonstrated no heart at all when stepping up. He is Cuban after all.

If Ramirez beat Stone my atheist azz is The Pope. That was a terrible decision. Ramirez won the first round and lost the rest of them.

Ok- maybe next year Big Gurgen Hovhannisyan can be included on these lists. I see him popping up on some rankings, but he still hasn't fought anyone other than Coffie but that was years ago.

He has gotten active this year with 3-4 fights in a calendar year, maybe 2 more and then I think he can make a leap in competition. Probably won't be impressing all that many people along the way, it was more about getting active again imo, for now at least.

So, I don't know when this will happen, and I'm not trying to hype him.,,,just, if they decide he's actually good (I I think so) - he should have good names available to him being affiliated with PBC and Goosen, and fighting out of Los Angeles.

Even on a PBC undercard against a Chris Arreola would be a good re- start. I'd like to see them trying to get the L.A. Armenians behind him, and establish himself as an "LA fighter" locally. I can see him against Andy Ruiz in LA as well. He will have decent names available like King Kong Ortiz, Lenier Pero, Ruiz, etc.

I'm guessing in there on a daily basis with Frank Sanchez while all these other guys around his age duck him.
