I have to agree, it was as much Canelo as Scull. The issue is, Canelo couldnt do what he wanted and Scull did as he pleased. He ran and Canelo couldnt catch him.

Canelo got right in front of him then was just posturing and blocking jabs, following Scull around the ring for 12 rds. It was like he was worried about gassing out so didn't let his hands go.

Not too dissimilar to what happened against Crawford, then. I don't think it's overreaching to say that his team were probably aware of his decline and knew he no longer had the output to deal with a bigger and stronger guy like Benavidez.
