Former IBF super middleweight champion William Scull, out of action since losing to Canelo Alvarez in May, is set to take on Jacob Bank on January 31 at the Sydbank Arena in Kolding, Denmark.
Bank, 17-0 (9 KOs), will have hometown advantage and he comes into the contest following a career-best showing in September, when he dismantled Tyron Zeuge in five rounds.
Scull, 23-1 (9 KOs), has fought at a higher level, however. Prior to his somewhat listless showing against Alvarez in Saudi Arabia, the German-based Cuban pipped Vladimir Shishkin over 12 rounds to capture the vacant IBF title.
Bloodthirsty fans might opt out of this one given that both Bank (ranked fourth by the WBO and 12th by the WBC) and Scull (ranked ninth by the IBF) are known for their defensive skills. It is scheduled for 10 rounds.
On the Primetime/Goldstar undercard there are appearances for another super middleweight fringe contender, the 18-0 (7 KOs) Oliver Zaren, and former WBC and WBO bantamweight champion, Dina Thorslund.
Thorslund, 23-0 (9 KOs), has not fought since October 2024 after suffering a miscarriage but she is now back in full training. Her opponent, like that of Zaren, is yet to be decided.
