With Manny, a prime Hatton could have turned into a nightmare for him. It would have been a hard fight for both guys with both taking a lot of damage. It is all just hindsight speculation though.

I will say that Hatton's style was not made for longevity. People just cannot seem to get their heads around the fact that he was just past his prime and on the decline when he fought Floyd and more of a full slide when he fought Manny.

He was and still is hugely underrated on these forums.
I “respectfully” disagree, I think a prime Hatton fighting both fighters (Manny/Floyd) would have resulted in the same outcome. That kamikaze style of fighting in bullying his opponents just leaves him open to be countered in which Floyd would once again have a field day, while Manny would just pick off his shots from the outside only to follow with more combinations and lateral movement. I just can’t see how in either instance the outcome would be any different.

    Peace.

Stop downplaying Manny when really he's on the same level of Floyd if not better.
LOL...Are you trying to say Hatton was in his prime? He wasn't. I love Manny, but he is human and has vulnerabilities just like any other fighter. Every fighter is flawed. No fighter is perfect. I was not downplaying him. I just throw out my thoughts and say it as i see it.

I see exactly what you are saying, but I just think a Prime Hatton could have absorbed more punishment and for that would have been able to dish more out. Results may have been the same, but he would have been more dangerous in both fights is what I am saying.

first of all hatton was too big for pacman and was stubborn and naive enough to think he could walk right through him

2nd of all he turned down floyd before there fight when he said he was not ready for him, and had a few more fights!!

floyd was too techical for hatton and pacman is a style nightmare for him!!

hattons best win was a foul fested fight against kosta in manchester with a hugely biased ref!!! also kosta was very faded and was very inactive (he was pound 4 pound number 2 but he had been inactive and injury plagued)

hatton has always been cleverly matched and for me he was a b class fighter why did he never fight cotto, judah or mosley thats what i wanna know
Learn how to read before you dish out red K you tool. Hatton beat Kostya when Kostya himself was out of his prime. **** happens. Hatton himself was out of his prime when he fought Floyd and Manny...**** Happens.

It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that a more durable and punch resistant Hatton would have been more competitive with both guys, especially Manny since Manny hurt him early and never let him off the hook.

****ing ridiculous. All of a sudden "Prime" ends when you get KTFO. Did you see Rocky ****ing 3? He was knocked the **** out but he was still in his prime in Rocky 4. Just cuz you get KTFO don't mean you're not in your prime it just means you got KTFO.

Ummm OK!lol Getting knocked out does not automatically mean you are out of your prime. hatton's style is a style tailor made to have a short prime. I saw him take right hands from Kostya and Urango that would flatten most guys. He had durability then. He lost it as he fought on though.

Respectfully disagree Dean , I think Hatton was at his career best when he fought Floyd , he was undefeated and mentally and physically peaking after the Castillo blowout , KT was faded and Urango hurt him to the body and Hatton stayed at range the rest of the fight , Urango is better now than he was then , watch the Floyd fight , Hatton took a lot of punishment leading up to the KO , a lot of solid crisp shots and then KOed he was mentally frustrated and beaten badly , he was not the same after the Floyd fight once that invincible mindset was shattered .

Well Hatton showed his vulnerabilities in the Collazo fight so that is where he started to slip I think. He was quite hurt in that fight and barely finished it. So I think he was already losing his punch resistance in that fight and Floyd capitalized. He was still at his prime when he fought Floyd perhaps, but I think his punch resistance was already waivering.

there's a reason hatton didn't fight floyd at 140 in 2005---he knew he would've gotten pumbled much worse than he did in 2007---i mean--imagine the floyd who fought gatti---imo floyd at his most dangerous--in 2005 nobody wanted any parts of floyd---he had more power---imo more speedy power also---after he destroyed gatti in easy fashion---cotto and hatton as well as oscar and shane and judah and wright kept their mouths shut---floyd looked godlike at 140---hatton came out and said he wasn't ready for floyd--he wasn't ready at 147 either---floyd dominated him---just like he will dominate manny, shane, and cotto--line them up---watch them fall...

lol i like the " i respectfully disagree" at the beginning of the statements.

it basically means...."bullShtt, you're wrong...now listen to me"

                      lol
