Comments Thread For: Proposed WBO title fight between Chris Billam-Smith and Roman Fress in limbo

The proposed bout, for the WBO interim cruiserweight title, between Chris Billam-Smith and Germany's Roman Fress is in limbo after Thursday's purse bids, in Budapest, came and went without any offers to stage it

This match-up is probably not going to happen. CBS is trying for an interim title when Opetaia would probably give him a shot at a full title. Cinkara needs to get paid to step-aside.

I believe it’s being lowered to 150k. Boxxer still might not have the available budget from BBC.

        Nothing ever happens at cruiserweight.

Opetaia keeps fighting no-hopers, Zurdo is hurt, Badou Jack is in some kind of WBC tournament groundhog day nonsense, CBS can't even get a fight.

Oh no, I was really looking forward to another historic 'interim' title fight with an unknown quantity as one of the opponents.

In all seriousness, the obvious fight to make while Zurdo is injured is Jai - CBS. Sanctioning body politics are creating obstacles in all divisions.

Jai prefers to continuously fight the worst guy he can get away with fighting without being stripped.

Except for Briedis twice, his resume is Rolly Romero-tier.

The greater issue is that Opetaia could fight a more formidable contender, but it wouldn't improve his marquee value or standing. There's seemingly no incentive or external pressure to take on a tougher foe, unless it's a unification. Additionally, the IBF isn't being proactive in forcing their contenders to weed each other out. Additionally, CW has also been suffering from chronic inactivity/injury over the past few years. It may not be an exaggeration to say CW is one of the worst divisions.

Did you really have to disrespect Opetaia by comparing him to ****ing Rolly Romero lol

RJJ-94-02=GOAT I doubt CBS would agree to fight for such a low purse. This match-up seems DOA.
