I think its like said he keeps getting big opportunities as he has throughout his career only to half a$$ it. Basically everyone is just getting behind someone whose doing it for a laugh.
He's like that one, big lump on every construction site - Big, physically strong but lazy and tries making up for it by being a bit of a pillock.
I'd rather see someone else get these opportunities, someone that actually takes the sport seriously and gives it a go.
Every time he steps up its the same thing then he gets praised more than the winner. Look at the comments on the highlights etc not a single congratulations or positive word about Makmudov who most wrote off just all giving it the ''we love you Dave *insert heart emojis*'' acting like teenage girls at a pop concert.
Even a Chisora is guilty of this but I get why people love him cause even if he isn't in shape he's going to dig in and give it everything and almost always will at least give you real value for money and find a way to make it competitive.Comment

Dave Allen had the ability to beat Arslanbeck Makhmudov if? He had a better work ethic; outside of the ring 'as I have stated many times before, fitness accumulates over months and years. And I think now? Dave Allen has realized that'.
Apparently since beating Johnny Fisher, Allen has shown a improved work ethic in training 'which is great. But? When you start challenging fighters that are in and around World level 'you are competing against fighters who are way more talented than domestic level fighters, and innately they have a much higher work ethic'.
A 6 to 12 week training camp, is not going to rewind or undo 'many months and years of having under-par work ethic. We have seen this with Tyson Fury and now Dave Allen'.
Note: I understand that Dave Allen markets himself as this 'shameless type fighter. Chip shop boy eating fighter. If I can do it, well maybe you can to. It is utter nonsense; boxing is a sport where the competitors you compete against have a license to legally remove you from this planet. And I am trying to word that, in way that shows empathy and compassion towards the fighters in the sport'.
Dave Allen may claim that he left no stone upturned in preparation for Arslanback Makhmudov 'but I don't believe that he did. And this might just be because, he does not have the ability to show that level of work ethic'.
Work ethic is a underrated attribute, many people don't really truly understand the depths of how impactful 'work ethic can be in many endeavours in life. Sometimes work ethic is what separates the best from the best, because at certain level all your adversaries have the ability to win'.
If Tyson Fury had the same level of work ethic as Anthony Joshua 'in my opinion he does not lose to Oleksandr Uysk, Fury does not get knocked down or smashed up by Deontay Wilder in their trilogy. If he did not disappear in-between fights, gain masses of weight and have to continually train himself back up to a solid level of base fitness'.
Whereas fighters like Oleksandr Uysk and Anthony Joshua 'their base level of fitness, is always at a high level. Since the amateur ranks, I don't think either of those fighters have allowed themselves to drop back down to street level. So that level of work ethic, accumulates over the years and fortifies their game'.
But like I have stated at the beginning of my post 'work ethic in my opinion is a skill. And it shows up early in a fighter's career, it is a fundamental innate skill. Fighters like Dave Allen may only have the ability to dedicate to the sport for 6 to 12 weeks, and then he will become distracted'.
To conclude: I personally picked Arslanbek Makhmudov win 'but a part of me wanted Dave Allen to win. As the fight draw closer, I just got really objective and analytic with the fight. And I understood that Makhmudov is very likely going to win, because this fight is not about a 6 to 12 week training camp. Everything that Dave Allen has done throughout his career is going to show up now in all of his remaining fights'.
Arslanbek Makhmudov is not a super talented fighter, but he is solid 'and I would imagine, that he has shown a 5 to 10 times better work ethic than Dave Allen throughout his entire career. Makhmudov won the fight due to having better conditioning, and fundamentally he is a better boxer'.
I don't think the loss to Makhumudov has really damaged Dave Allen's position in the sport 'Eddie Hearn and match room should really be trying to get him a British or European title fights. Those opportunities are still in the range of Dave Allen's scope' etc.

I'm not a fan of his lack of discipline and feel like hes had a lot of underserved opportunities, but he seems a nice guy and I think his nonchalant goofy demeanour and him seemingly never being in proper shape kind of obscures the fact that he actually does have some skills. Namely an above average chin, good body work and a tricky overhand right. His natural ceiling was probably higher if he had been more disciplined and serious.Comment
