If we’re talking the version of Ray that fought at 168, I think that’s a pretty easy victory for Bud. I think people forget it was at 168 Leonard really began to show signs of wear and tear. He looked vulnerable against Lallonde and you could definitely see his legs were not what they once were. Then he struggled badly in a favourable draw against and also past prime Tommy Hearns. That version of Leonard doesn’t beat the version of Bud who clearly hadn’t lost a step vs Canelo.

If they fought prime for prime presumably at 147. I’d take Ray by a close decision, I think his advantage in speed would help him edge enough rounds, Bud has some of the best timing and catch & counters I’ve ever seen though and Ray could definitely be caught. He also has a significant reach advantage with plagued Leonard against Hearns. Would be a very close fight IMO, both guys have that dog in them too, would have been an incredible matchup. Easily in my top 5 fantasy fights.

          Agreed. 168, Bud; 147, Ray.

Hearns' reach would plague anybody! lol. Crawford probably win at 168, but i think the more interesing matchup would be at 147, in which I favor leonard. Even 154 or 160.

100%. I consider Ray beating Tommy in 1981 perhaps the single greatest win in boxing history. Hearns was a MONSTER at 147. He wasn’t just a puncher too, people forget he was outboxing Leonard in the latter half of that fight. The boxer became the puncher and the puncher became the boxer. It’s my favourite fight of all time. Two undefeated champions, in their prime, undefeated, huge momentum swings throughout and an emphatic finish. Exactly what boxing is all about.
