The proposal to return to 168lbs was mentioned, and David Benavidez shot it down.

I think Benavidez found it easier to break opponents down at 168lbs, it doesn't look like the power has followed up with him so he's finding it harder to break these guys down. I saw a recent video on Youtube where he was doing the kettle ball forearm exercises that Golovkin used to do so perhaps he's been working on his power for the Yarde fight.

David might ultimately have the most success at cruiser

yes they're bigger but slower with less skills than 175

fast 4-5 punch combos trouble David

        these cruisers slow

He'd beat the hell out of Badou Jack who also fought at 168lbs and 175lbs, both are similar size. Zurdo fight would be more competitive. It's best Benavidez stays way from Opetaia though because neither man would take a backward step and he'd probably end up getting knocked out.

I think Benavidez should try to get some KOs at LHW ahead of his Bivol fight to increase his profile and make Turki close the deal

Benevidez has the chance to be a mega star. And without fighting Canelo or Crawford who are on the last leg of their run. Fighting Yarde on a Saudi show is a great move. Follow that up with smashing Smith at Anfield and then win the undisputed in Vegas against either of the Ruskies. Job done

Let see if David can stop Buff Guy Yarde

so far the greats Saul and Artur have outperformed David when it comes to common opponents Caleb and Gvozdyk

Artur ko'd Yarde but was hurt himself 3 to 4 times in the process

David has a better guard than Artur but much less timing and power

I think he has learned a lot about paying attention to his body from the multiple times he missed weight in the past. 175 is not really "loaded", but it has enough star power there are good fights available for him. I think it is a good choice. Stay where your body is comfortable.

that was a dumb fight anyways

1st the public is never asking for it.

second does crawford even want it? hes probably vacating it and he probably dont want to fight a massive young guy with legs like that

3rd, bena really wants canelo not crawford

4th, if he wins people will just say hes huge and crawford is old and small

5th, he risks health issues by draining down, hes a big guy he could barely make 168 a few years ago. what if its a DLH-Pac situation where everyone thinks its an easy Bena win and he looks like a corpse and gets his ass beat.
