Cotto and Donaire have very, very similar resumes. Both absolutely deserving Hall of Famers.

    Lara is just a guy.

It's The Level Of Comp. Cotto Fought And Beat Better/Bigger Names Than Donaire.

Cotto = DeMarcus Corley, Paulie Malignaggi, Zab Judah, Shane Mosley, Antonio Margarito, Joshua Clottey, Yuri Foreman, Sergio Martínez.

Those Are Fights That He Won.

Fights That He Loss But To Big Names = Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather, Canelo
      Álvarez.

Overall, Cotto Has a Very Damm Good Resume.

Based on what? Who has Lara ever lost to? Has he ever been stopped or quit on the stool? Nonito got destroyed by Nicholas Walters. Walters washed out of boxing until he needed money again. No sane person would rank Donaire above Cotto. I'm not even a Cotto fan, but his resume dwarfs Donaire's ~ Mayweather, Maravilla, Randall Bailey, Margarito, Shane, Zab, Carlos Quintana, Canelo. I could go on and on.

Isn't it unbelievable that we have to explain the immense disparity in overall quality of opposition between Cotto and Donaire?

Lara is not a JAG. He's a supremely skilled fighter who is still fighting at an elite level at an advanced age, and no one has ever convincingly beaten him.

you are doing the "bigger name" thing again. yes they were "bigger names" because they were in glamour divisions unlike donaire. that doesnt mean they were better though. also you are including guys like margarito? he was completely shot when cotto beat him and not even ranked. thats the definition of just a name on your resume.

donaires win over undefeated darchinyan is probably better than any cotto win at least imo. people seriously underrate darchinyan, especially at 112 and 115. he became just an opponent at 118 and above but if you look at his resume in those 2 divisions he was elite and in his prime. darchinyan went on to be the #1 guy at 115. cotto beat an older mosley and an injured martinez but those guys were far from prime even though they were or went on to be #1.

donaire also beat mthalane who went on to be #1 and beat casimero and tete among others. no one cotto beat went on to be #1 besides mosley.

donaire also beat montiel who was #1 after his great win over hasegawa

donaire beat nishioka who was #1.

donaire just has better quality wins than cotto. they both have a good quantity of wins but donaire has better quality. even his secondary wins are better. he beat 8 guys total in the top 3 of the ring rankings to cottos 4.

is that how you compare resumes? guess tank is better than donaire too! laras only beaten 3 ranked fighters his entire career and hes never beaten the #1 guy. how can that compare to donaire who has beaten the #1 guy or someone who went on to be the #1 guy 4 times on top of having a much deeper resume. makes no sense.

The best name on Donaire's resume is Rigo, and that was a very wide loss. Cotto lost a few fights, but they were almost always competitive (except for Manny). He was a 3:1 underdog when he stopped Maravilla. Again, I'm not a Cotto fan, but his body of work in 48 fights dwarves Nonito's. It's not even remotely comparable.

what you should say is lara has never convincingly beaten the top guys, unlike donaire who has. also lara hasnt fought a ranked fighter in 6 years now. i wouldnt call him fighting on the elite level.

The top guys are/were never willing to face Lara. Shall we put an APB out on Mr. Adames and Mr. Alimkhanuly? Donaire hit his ceiling at 122, a division where he got completely dominated by Rigo. I've never seen anyone dominate Lara, not even Canelo. In fact, many fans believe he was robbed against Canelo, just as he was against P-Will.

Buck NO!! You Have To Look At Darchinyan's Resume Prior To Fighting Donaire. Just Because He's Undefeated, Doesn't Mean Jack!

Paulie and Yuri Was Also Undefeated Prior To Fighting Cotto.....
