What is a "hardcore" boxing fan?

Going to chuck the challenge I gave to PRINCEKOOL here out to the forum and ask you to define what a "hardcore" boxing fan is.

Do you consider yourself to be one?

Main reason I ask is that most of this forum seems to consider themselves "hardcore" and are among the most miserable and angry people I've ever encountered. I really don't see such people filling out arenas/stadiums and creating a raucous atmosphere. They're most likely resentfully tapping at the smartphone or keyboard instead.

But I could be wrong. If I don't reply/react to your individual post it's probably because you're among the 100+ people I have on my ignore list now.

    Peace and love.

edpboxing Dude puts the work in , always has fight threads up even for the most random cards. I appreciate it ... and if you are participating/posting in one of those threads I consider you a hardcore fan .

I personally try to watch as much boxing as possible whether I know who the fighters are or not. Whether they are big names or smaller names. I read boxing news almost daily.

but I also don’t know or care whether anyone views me as a hardcore fan or not lol

As a teenager I used to read the old tabloid format Boxing News from cover to cover every week, including the amateur section at the back. I think when I stopped doing that I was no longer truly "hardcore"

As a slight digression, does anyone know when Boxing News changed the format of the magazine? I'm thinking 2005ish.

going by this definition of hardcore boxing fans those people are losers

only retired old guys should have that much energy and time to follow sports to such an extreme extent

I’m not a hardcore and have no desire to be one

keeping up with max 5 boxers is good enough for me

I consider a hardcore boxing fan, to be an individual who has boxing apart of their daily or weekly life in some form 'Beyond the surface level'. The reason why I mention the term 'Surface level' is because? It is very easy in today's times and culture, for most people to quickly become casual sports fans and gain a certain level of surface level information.

A lot of people in society only really have surface level interests, this is a fact. I would say the large majority of society behaves in this way, and that is alright? Because people may value and prioritize the basic fundamental drives and necessities for survival in life. And after this point? They don't have much motivation or deep passion for any other pursuits'.

Note: You all know people like this? They live to go out in the weekends 'they jump on anything which is gaining attention from the masses, mainstream media or the crowd. Large portions of society is a hive mind, you have people inside of the hive mind, then? You have those individuals who can step outside of it'.

This is nothing new, I once listening to a interview with a very prestigious chef called Macro Pierre White in his own words 'he spoke about living his life inside a glass, which was like some sort of protective shield from society. And this aided in him to observe society, and not be conditioned by it to the extent that maybe others were. Marco Pierre White stepped outside of the hive society and pursued his passion with a hardcore intensity, and became a 3 Michelin Star chef'.

So there are people who despite also, having to contend with the pressures of acquiring the basic fundamental things in life. They still have an innate drive and passion to pursue their points of focus. It is not just about sport, it could be personal academic, art or scientific pursuits. Throughout history there are many people who have lived with this lifestyle, and some have became very prestigious within their domains.

To conclude: I don't think attending boxing events, makes a individual a hardcore boxing fan 'in reality? Boxing events especially the mega events. Attract casual sports fans, and this trait can be documented in all sports. And that is why? I have continually gave people the advice here, to stop letting casual sports fans or people with surface level interests run your lives'.

Those types of people will watch, what they are told to watch 'they will go where they are told to go, buy what they are told to buy. The list goes on. People who work in business, and marketing know this, because that is how they operate'.

They get played like Punch and Judy, whereas hardcore boxing fans don't get played so easily because 'we observe the sport in greater detail. Casual sports fans are not irrelevant, and there is also nothing wrong with them. Because the truth is? I myself may actually casually at times view certain others sports and attempt to learn about certain fields. But when it comes to boxing, I consider myself a hardcore boxing fan, a boxing analyst'.

Track and Field Athletics and Boxing are the two sports which I have been actively involved in during saga's of my life on a daily or weekly basis beyond a surface level 'so they are a part of my fundamental make up' etc.
