So, will Canelo get a credit when he stops Crawford?

Interesting that so many boxing people pick Bud to win.
Maybe they are overlooking some facts.
Crawford is 3 years older, less active, coming 2 divisions up, coming from another 1 year layoff.
Crawford only had 1 fight at 154 in which he didn`t look great.
The fight will be at 168. Crawford will likely be rusty, slower than ever, heavier than ever.
The skill gap between these 2 is not that big.
I hardly believe Canelo is shot enough to lose at 168 against a career 135-147 guy.

You never know whats possible unless you try. Most things arent achieved because they dont try, rather than it not being possible?. But James Toney, RJJ won titles at heavyweight because they tried and they will get credit for being great. Floyd mightve beat GGG, but he darent try, put limitations on what he thought he could do, so in my eyes not so great as Toney, or RJJ was.Last edited by hugh grant; 09-01-2025, 06:10 PM.Comment

I see it like this. If Crawford wins, he gets all the credit and goes down as one of the best. Moving up two weight classes and beating arguably the best SMW of the past 10 years is huge. If he loses, he was supposed to lose because of the same reason above.
If Canelo wins, he was supposed to win and nothing changes. If Canelo loses I think it hurts his legacy but not enough to not make him one of the best to step in the ring. If it is a draw they run it back but still looks bad for Canelo.Comment
