Homeland Security statement:

"Chavez is a Mexican citizen who has an active arrest warrant in Mexico for his involvement in organized crime and trafficking firearms, ammunition, and explosives.

In August 2023, he entered the country legally with a B2 tourist visa that was valid until February 2024.

Chavez is also believed to be an affiliate of the Sinaloa Cartel, a designated Foreign ********* Organization. ICE arrested Chavez in Studio City, California on July 2.

On April 2, 2024, Chavez filed application for Lawful Permanent Resident status. Chavez’s application was based on his marriage to a U.S. citizen, who is connected to the Sinaloa Cartel through a prior relationship with the now-deceased son of the infamous cartel leader Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman.

On December 17, 2024, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services made a referral to ICE that Chavez is an egregious public safety threat. However, an entry in a DHS law enforcement system under the ***** administration indicated Chavez was not an immigration enforcement priority.

On January 4, 2025, the ***** administration allowed Chavez to reenter the country and paroled him into the country at the San Ysidro port of entry.

Following multiple fraudulent statements on his application to become a Lawful Permanent Resident, he was determined to be in the country illegally and removable on June 27, 2025"

Yeah, I’m not fully-versed on what’s happening with this latest Trump controversy, but the little I’ve seen so far only sounds cringy. As with many such things, it really depends on your viewpoint. This is often based on race and/or political affiliation. The POTUS has based his entire platform on “making America great again.” Seems logical that he would want to focus on the positives, not “look how horrible we’ve been as a nation.” Most of Trump’s haters think he’s a racist to begin with, so this appears par for the course. I personally think he’s just being his usual, opinionated self. A career politician would, as a matter-of-course, refrain from making any potentially inflammatory remarks, or sharing what they know to be unpopular opinions. I’ve rarely ever heard any sensible arguments from Trump-haters. It’s nearly always uninformed, overly emotional takes. And I’m not even a so-called “Trumper.” You can’t even say anything positive about him or any of his policies without being off-handedly labeled a Na zi.

I believe you’re drawing conclusions based on extremely limited information. I don’t have the time or inclination to explain myself and my socio-political views in detail. To the best of my knowledge, no one is talking about “erasing history.” I most certainly don’t advocate that. Like I said, I’m not versed on all that’s going on regarding the matter. I only have the impression that those complaining see an “over-focus” on negativity. The notion in of itself doesn’t bother me. That’s all — don’t read too much into it. I’ve been to DC but never set foot in the Smithsonian, where I believe the issue is focused, so I can’t offer an opinion.
