Get by Whyte first… David Price comes to mind. Price smashed a few fringe guys then Frank Maloney thought it was a good idea putting him in with 38 year old Tony Thompson who was top 10 & coming off a title shot loss to Klitschko. That was a huge step up. This is a huge step up for Itauma so we will see if he is a legit contender. Whyte is 37 & shopworn but he can still punch. Itauma better be very careful…
If he feels he's ready, he's ready. The peanut gallery opinion doesn't matter. It's the most interesting fight right now, the reigning goat vs the ambitious young lion future king. This is the fight. He's 20 but so was Tyson vs Berbick. History repeats.
If Itauma loses, he will learn a lot from the goat. If he wins, he will not be able to handle all the sudden fame and fortune as a mere kid. Are we ready for Tyson 2 all over again? I don't see Usyk being the kind of terror who would abuse and destroy Itauma's future. He's not a career destroyer type fighter. But who knows. So much intrigue about this clash of titans.
Consider how much Ray Leonard learned from Roberto Duran in their first fight... how much Vitali learned from Lennox. It's a win win situation for Itauma.
Everyone has improved, until they fight Usyk. Itauma has great potentiel, but he hasn't faced anyone with a pulse. And beating a washed up and soon to be retired Whyte ain't gonna prove anything.
