I think Joshua pretty much killed the prospect of that fight with his comments. It is obvious Ward wants the cash and continued relevance, but I cannot see what's in it for Joshua. Ward was never a draw even in his prime because he was considered a boring fighter who was also very dirty.What does he have to offer to Joshua?

TBH it would be a big fight and easy to sell. Former P4P guy (could promote him as one of the best ever or whatevs) coming out of retirement to challenge a former unified champ at heavyweight, plus it also has that carnival style / freak show attraction of the massive gap in size and weight. It's definitely more intriguing than a Dubois rematch and Matchroom could turn that into a huge event.

On top of that AJ wouldn't take crazy damage off Ward, apart from maybe lose the future ability to have children.

AJ has nothing to gain, apart from losing his balls, like you said, and the tiny bit of pride he has left.

I don't know how big Andre Ward is but I'm pretty sure that he's way too small to be fighting a huge dude like Joshua.
I looked it up , Ward would have a deficit of 6 inches in height and almost 12 inches in reach. I'm sure that the weight difference would be substantial as well. Let's not even get into ring rust and age. I don't see Ward having much chance of winning even with Joshua as diminished as he is these days.

Ward's full of shit. He bowed out when he knew his next opponents were going to be the top, big LHWs, yet he's willing to come out of retirement @ 41 and more than a decade away to challenge Joshua? GTFOH!

Ward is irrelevant but thinks he’s gods gift, talks as if everything that comes out of his mouth has never been said before, a bat**** boring fighter and commentator to boot. Maybe he should be a trainer, he probably sold 13 copies of his book and needs the cash for a fight.
