Who is greater all time: Pac or Duran

Perhaps the most blatant, recent example of this is Rolly Romero. Rolly is technically a two-division champion. It’s laughable, really. But this sort of thing is not uncommon in the modern sport. Back in the day, in the time of the original eight divisions, a champion was usually the very best in his weight class — a true champion. Even as newer weight classes were added, it remained fairly difficult to earn a belt. These days, a guy looking to juice up his legacy can rack up a “gimme” strap versus a weak “champ.” So easy to impress when people don’t look beneath the surface.
belt holder does not equal the best

Only time Floyd did two easies in a row was Berto and Conor
Acceptable at the end of his career
the boxing gods willed that Floyd go shut up ufc fans
other than that Floyd would at minimum make major fights every other match

Pac was 46 and not fought 4years, who do you expect him to fight? Any belt holder should be a challenge
But pac is greater than duran id say. Cotto said pac, who was a former light flyweight, was toughest he fought and cotto fought nelo.......Mosley said same thing, it's absolutely mind blowing when you take deep breath and think about it?Last edited by hugh grant; 08-07-2025, 05:02 PM.Comment

Duran has a win over Sugar ray… i like Duran.. but his resume doesn’t run as deep as pacquiao’s.. he was an extremely dominant at 135lbs.. but who did he beat there really?
he hanged against the fab 4 seems to be where he gets the benefit of the doubt… im sure he can compete at any era. But resume wise.. pacquiao clears him.Comment

manny made no case for being the goat of any weight
Roberto beat his version of Floyd, Sugar Leonard
manny fumbled hard when faced with his version of Sugar Leonard, Floyd, who won by wide decision and stayed in first gear the entire time
manny didn’t live up to the hype of being THE MEDIA CHOSEN ONE to get Floyd lolComment

Roberto getting a PRIME Sugar Leonard could be the biggest win ever in boxing

Pacquiao... Just because Duran is old school doesn't mean he's better. Some folks already listed reasons why here, but I think one that resonates more than any is Duran literally quitting in a fight. Shaking his head saying "NO MAS". Pacquiao would rather be KO'd than ever quitting. Even after being repeated fouled against Agapito Sanchez, he never quit.
At the end of the day, if you were in a street fight and had to pick some buddies, or hell, bring someone along with you into a war, I think I'll take the guy that doesn't quit over the one that shown he can.Last edited by ELPacman; 08-28-2025, 09:24 AM.Comment
