Of course Manny was the best Roach ever trained. That’s no surprise — I mean, here we are, debating whether he’s better than Duran. But “he trained them all” is a wee bit of an overstatement, don’t you think? I recall someone saying that about Ray Arcel — or maybe it was Arcel himself who said it — that Duran was the best he ever trained, and he trained them all. Anyway, my two cents: Roberto is arguably the 5th best P4P boxer of all time. Pacquiao’s up there himself, but he doesn’t rank quite that high.

These days, a guy looking to juice up his legacy can rack up a “gimme” strap versus a weak “champ.” So easy to impress when people don’t look beneath the surface.
