Comments Thread For: When Antonio Margarito rocked Miguel Cotto

-
In my opinion it has never really been clear 'What Antonio Margarito and his team did to his hand wraps. At the time? I think Margarito vs Cotto I, was an all-time great fight and a awesome win for Margarito'.
Many people all talk about the damage inflicted on Miguel Cotto 'But in that fight, Margarito was for as long as Miguel Cotto was in the fight. He was taking heavy punishment, and himself sustained serve damage'.
The fight became a battle of attrition and Antonio Magarito I won 'It was regardless of the controversy his peak level win as a fighter'.
I enjoyed the build up to the rematch, and the HBO face off between the two fighters 'Was one of the best ever. Miguel Cotto was clearly traumatized by the experience of fighting Antonio Margarito I in the first fight, and Margarito seemed to revel in that type of atmosphere'.
Note: The rematch was a important win for Miguel Cotto 'But once again? At the time of the fight, I think they really could have let the fight continue. Antonio Margarito at the time of the stoppage was still talking to Miguel Cotto, and as futile as it seemed he was still trying to win'.
Although Miguel Cotto fought a great fight vs Manny Pacquiao 'I think the timing of that fight was not really optimal for him. At that stage in his career, he was still suffering from the trauma of his first fight against Antonio Margarito I. There was a certain look on Cotto's face that would appear, when he was under pressure and it surfaced in his fight vs Manny Pacquiao'.
Miguel Cotto throughout his entire career before Antonio Margarito I 'Was a very stoic fighter. He appeared almost like some kind of Cyborg. Just systematically pressuring opponents and breaking them down, while wading through attacks and even damage'.
Miguel Cotto lost that composure after his first fight vs Antonio Margarito I 'But then it did begin to return and increase after he achieved a solid series of wins. By the time Miguel Cotto fought Floyd Mayweather Junior, that was a really solid version of Cotto. That version of Miguel Cotto in my opinion, would have pushed Manny Pacquiao in a super close fight'.
To conclude: I have always stated that avenging a traumatic loss in boxing at top level 'Is one of the greatest feats a fighter can achieve. From a pure competitive perspective. I think it is very important for a fighters resume, and for them as competitors on a fundamental level'.
That is why I think, while going off topic? If Anthony Joshua has the opportunity to fight Daniel Dubois for the second time 'He has to take that fight. If Anthony Joshua is able to avenge his loss to Dubois II, in many ways as a Gladiator his esteem will be better than ever. On some level as a fighter a part of himself will be rejuvenated, no other win is going to have that level of positive impact in his career currently' etc.Last edited by PRINCEKOOL; Yesterday, 08:15 AM.
