Is the dearth of talent between 160 and 175lbs evidence there are too many divisions?

Is the dearth of talent between 160 and 175lbs evidence there are too many divisions?

I believe the 'junior' and 'super' divisions are sanctioning body inventions to generate more fees rather than a safety measure.

160lbs is a wasteland with three inactive belt holders avoiding each other and Eubank jr. who is fighting a rematch with a welterweight.

168lbs has Canelo, Mbilli and Sheeraz.

175lbs has Bivol, Beterbiev and Benavidez. I'm not counting Callum Smith since he took the lame decision to sit on his WBOgus 'interim' and wait for an email belt.

Get rid of 168lbs (and ideally at least one of the sanctioning bodies) and these guys are forced up or down into more competitive divisions.

If you think I'm wrong, please explain why.

There's too many divisions, but there's other divisions I'd get rid of first.

    Namely 105, 115, 122, & 130, & cruiserweight to start.

      Nash Rules - Weight divisions

Lowest weight up to 140 pounds, so if you weigh 110, 120 etc, you can fight in this division. Either do that or leave boxing.

      Light-Mid Weight 140-160

      Mid weight 160-180

      Mid-Heavy weight 180-200

      Heavyweight 200+

So only 5 divisions and it means that the divisions will have much more depth. Heavyweight will remain the same, but the others will be far stronger and takes away the tiny men who are weaker than teenage girls. Proper fights! Let's get it on! Nash out - His Majesty

I think these things ebb and flow. Back in 2011, you had the Super Six tournament stacked with talent at 168 (and fighting each other for the most part).
