Because Sheeraz is well liked by Turki and a good fighter who has mostly performed up to task. 168lbs is a division that lacks real star power which Sheeraz becoming one of the more recognizable faces in the division.

I think Sheeraz under Andy Lee has a better chance vs. Mbilli than he would've had with his previous trainer. He showed aggression and a quick trigger vs. Berlanga, and those qualities will come in handy vs. Mbilli.

Munguia was ranked #1 by the WBO and Crawford is on the top of P4P lists so he’s a special case.

And bumavidez was mandatory but never got his shot so it's all a moot point.

Lmao at Crawford being a special case. Stfu moron

And why does Sheeraz get to skip over Jermall Charlo who is ranked #1 by the WBC?

These are some shenanigans being pulled by Mauricio Sulaiman and Turki.
Because Canelo picks who he's going to fight. Always been that way.

It’s Turki calling for the Sheeraz fight here, though. Not Canelo.

These days, rankings are mostly an excuse to have fighter A fight fighter B as long as they're sitting in top 5. Whoever wants to make a fight happen will and not strictly in the order of their ranking as long as the fighter is well enough in that he brings the crowd, has a style to please and makes sense. That then goes back to if you got the money, you're going to make what you want. If Sheeraz was for example ranked 5 now and Canelo is 1, but fighters 2,3,4 are meh in star power, style, I think Turki would much rather get straight to the inevitable and put fighter #5 who can bring an audience and has a fun style up against #1 ranked guy.

I doubt Canelo left himself in a position where he doesn't have final say

Doesn't matter anyway because canelo simply won't fight if forced to. Remember dazn wanted a third ggg fight when ggg wasn't old and so canelo abandoned the contract and dazn. His ducking has no bounds
