Agree with that. He still should have had a warning but it did light a fire under his ass. I kind of thought he might fold after the point deduction because of the way he was fighting prior, but he proved me wrong.
I would like to see a rematch to clear things up.
Froch was hurt but Dirrell didn't try to go for the finish. You could see it in Froch's legs as well when he punched back...he was hurt.Last edited by Benny Leonard; 10-19-2009, 02:29 AM.Comment

which weren't hurting him. It was pat and run nonsense and I'm not surprised the judges weren't impressed. The last two rounds is the way the fight should've been from the start, a proper fight.Comment

So, Dirrell should have put himself at a tactical disadvantage the entire fight?
It's the same thing over and over for defensive fighters.
If you use too much defense, you're a ****ty fighter. If you fight too aggressively to please people, you're dumb and fought the wrong fight.Comment

as much as I'm not a fan of Mayweather's backfoot style, at least it can be said he's constantly throwing punches even if they aren't big shotsSo, Dirrell should have put himself at a tactical disadvantage the entire fight?

Dirrell did not throw with any frequency at all, he was flat out running for a lot of the time
maybe this matador style is your idea of boxing, but he took it way beyond the boundaries of defensive fighting, it was defensive running for a large proportion of the fight and it ruined the spectacle and clearly pissed off a couple of the judgesComment

neither were landing very many shots to the point where it almost became farcical. One round like that is acceptable in a fight, 5 or 6 is just miserable and it was Dirrell's fault, he made it that way with his approach.Comment
