It’s doubtful that Serrano’s trainer picked up on what Katie Taylor is doing when Serrano puts her in the ropes. His boxing IQ is limited I believe.

The reason no sanctioning body (the IBF included) ranks other organizations champions is because it is POINTLESS. Those fights can always be made as unifications, which take priority over mandos anyways. Lets look at 135 for an example......
IBF 135 champ is Muratella. WBA is Tank, WBC is Shakur. Does anyone really believe for a second that if the IBF put Tank or Shakur at #1, that somehow magically that fight is going to get made? And what point would be made by sending it to purse bid? There is nothing the IBF could do to Tank or Shakur for not participating, other than removing their ranking, which they wouldnt care about anyways. It would just be a big waste of time.

A #1 ranking isnt going to make Muratalla vs Tank, or Muratalla vs Shakur. The only way those fights get made is as a unification........

That aside, the IBF forcing two ranked contenders to fight in order to become the mandatory is a good rule though. They’ll start with the highest ranked and if any of them turn it down they work their way down the list.

In a perfect world their would only be one sanctioning body and this rule would ensure awesome matchups in order to get a title shot.

I'm a huge fan of the IBF and the way they do things. Yes, you get undesirable mandos from time to time. But its a system that allows ANY fighter, regardless of their ecomomic power or drawing power, to FIGHT their way to a title shot, instead of having to give an envelope to Suiliman or Mendoza to get a ranking.........

Margarito was a 4-1 favorite vs Mosley in what was supposed to be a showcase fight against a fading name. The Cotto fight was much more high risk, more at stake because of nationalities and a prime champion. If Margarito was willing to use illegal wraps for a showcase fight, it wouldn't surprise me if he used them for the fight that had more at stake.

Margarito is a chump and he cheated in all his fights. Defending Margarito because he got caught one time would be similar to defending Epstèin IF he had been caught just one time. There is a pattern to such criminalities.
