If you’re talking about star power and recognisability I think you’d have to put Mike on there in place of Ray or Roy. If you ask the average man on the street to name a boxer, good chance they’d say Tyson.

Disregarding achievement and skills but purely in terms of name recognition among casuals in this day and age I'd say it is Ali, Tyson, Mayweather, Pacquao. The way I consider it is whether or not does my aunt in her 50s who has watched zero boxing in her life and only get athletes names off clips of sports/news channel and such through her lifetime knows those four names as "boxers" even if she knew nothing else and won't be able to tell their faces when shown a picture.
For her, Ali was a "famous boxer from before she was born" (technically she was already born when Ali was still active but minor details)
Tyson was a "famous boxer from when she was still in school"
Mayweather and Pacquiao were both "famous boxers from like a decade ago?" (for her generation 10~20 years is not that different if not interested in the topic)
First of all sir, if you pay enough attention to Terrance Crawford and his logic, he doesn't care much for what other people think about him. You should've read in between the lines. He said that HE will be on Mt. Rushmore, meaning for HIMSELF, he as a person will be on Mt. Rushmore. He covered the other part in saying whatever other people think is up to them. If you win the lottery, you'll be on Mt. Rushmore for YOU right? Doesn't matter what other people say or think. Terrance is not the greatest boxer or fighter of all time. I don't think anyone is, because we'll never know. It's all based on opinions not facts nor logic. It'll be his greatest accomplishment of his career and you dissected it as if he was putting himself on top of everyone ever in boxing. Come on sir.
A good article as it is a compelling article. But Jack Dempsey? The guy that held-up the heavyweight division for years? The same guy that didn't face black fighters? Sorry, Jack doesn't even make my top 20 ATG heavyweights. He was good at NOT doing his job, his highlight moments side, IMO.

Oscar and Ray Leonard would be in that mix too I think.
Ali and Mike for sure. May and Pac are still incredibly famous now but will it be the same in say 30 years. They’re definitely in that mix though.
If you mention Duran, why not Hearns, who ko'd him. Mention Chavez, then what about Oscar, who stopped him twice. Tyson, what about Lennox, who knocked him out.
But I understand, taking it as an overview of when they were in their primes and body of work, you can see how the writer for to that list.
