The first decade in which the best American wasn't the best boxer in the world was the 1960s. Eder Jofre, at the beginning of that decade, was considered the best boxer in the world pound for pound.

1900s- Langford was the best American fighter. Yes I know he lost to Johnson, but thats because Langford was a Ly Heavy (well at the time more a middleweight), and he went up to fight the Heavyweight Champ. P4p Langford was better

1910s- Greb right, or maybe he gets the 20s. But he has to get one. Though his career does split poorly over the decades

This list is silly. Far too heavyweight centric and even then it is wonky. Peter Jackson was a far better boxer than Sullivan, who refused to fight black boxers. Harry Greb was far better than Dempsey who avoided him and drew the colour line with Harry Wills.
