Sounds like junior violated the terms of his visa and it also sounds like Mexican authorities wanted him.

Not really surprising that he got yanked from the US.

I think this whole news story is a little of both. Chavez deserved to get deported if he was well within violating his VISA and his stay. The law is the law.

At the same time, those saying, “Why did they wait for until the fight was over?”

I’m sure they could’ve moved in before, but it would’ve been a ****show and they would’ve gotten more bad press (more than they’re already getting) had they deported him a few days before the fight).

I’m also on the side that the way the news is painting makes it seem like Chavez is a high ranking or some big piece in this entire organization. I don’t think that’s the case. Chavez doesn’t strike me as a particularly smart or clever individual. His teeth to gum ratio is lopsided, and half the time during interviews he’s got the facial expression of a human being that’s learning how to inhale and exhale on the spot; also a mouth breather. If anything, he’s aloof and a bumbling idiot that if put in a Spanish telenovela would be cast as a bully that’s dumb as a bag of bricks.

I feel bad for Chavez, Sr. The man is Mexican royalty and then…you have his son who got crushed under the weight of his and the world’s expectations.

Good post. I tend to agree. It would appear Junior was used in more of an enforcer-type role. My belief is that he was involved in some activities, but likely not in deep. It was probably a combination of factors that got him deported, starting with his visa violation. Now he’s serving as a poster-child of sorts — like, “Hey, if they snatched him up no one is immune.”

I remember in one of the HBO 24/7 series (either Canelo or Sergio) and they showed junior chilling in his home wearing pink jockey underwear and eating a bowl of cereal. Hearing him talk, it confirmed that he definitely wasn't much of a "thinker".
